Shaker Style Wardrobe with oak interior
Project goal: To create a double-height wardrobe that uses all the available space, including the alcoves on either side of the chimney breast. The doors must be bi-fold opening so that all the clothes can be viewed at the same time. The inside of the wardrobe would also need to house a ladder to reach the top section of the wardrobe. In order to use the two alcoves, I incorporated deeper cabinets on either side. One with a simple, extra bookshelf unit and the other with a pull-out unit almost one meter deep. This also included another hanging rail and extra shelving inside.
Approach: In order to use the two alcoves, I incorporated deeper cabinets on either side. One with a simple, extra bookshelf unit and the other with a pull-out unit almost one meter deep. This also included another hanging rail and extra shelving inside.
Materials: The interior of the wardrobe was made from oak laminated egger MFC board and the shaker door exterior was made from moisture-resistant MDF with an off-white polyurethane lacquer. Two bi-folding door systems were linked together for the lower doors and the upper doors were push-to-open.
